I am currently working with a leading traffic management and highway maintenance company who is seeking a business development and growth manager to join their Northern business unit in this newly created role. You will come from the built environment (ideally a tier 1 or tier 2 contractor), have excellent relationship building and communication skills and have a proven track record of delivering growth within an organisation.
This is a remote role with travel across the Northern region (Sheffield up to Newcastle, and across to Merseyside) and you will live within this area. You will be a visible presence across the company offices, client sites and potential customer sites. The salary is £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experience, £6,000 car allowance and up to 15% bonus (based on company and personal targets).
Duties and responsibilities
– Lead growth across the North through business retention and new business acquisition
– Achieve profitable growth through focus on Key Account Management and Priority Growth Customers
– Provide leadership across the region to coordinate pipeline and key account management activity, working with other BDM’s and the Regional Management Teams
– Establish win work best practice across the region creating a strong win work community
– Play an active part in bids, both quality-based tenders and commercial bids
– Involved in identifying, prioritising and winning local opportunities across the region
– Ensure winning bid strategies are in pace for selected opportunities
– Support the tender process for opportunities, both in quality and from a commercial perspective
– Use customer feedback and partake in regular win/loss reviews to celebrate success or ensure that lessons learnt are embedded. Use this approach to help drive continuous improvement in the region
– Actively engaged in implementing the regional business retention and new business acquisition plans. Undertake customer satisfaction and drive NPS reporting
– Assess opportunities to identify key customers and key target areas to develop a broad and appropriately balanced client base linked to the regional strategy
– Ensure regular feedback from operations is sought that can be used to develop the regional strategy for wining work and growth
– Coach and develop the teams within the region, engaging and motivating them to achieve and be highly productive, allowing multiple relevant individuals in the region to proactively win work
– Be a point of contact for the region for expert advice on sales and bidding excellence and technical skills
